Adoption Termination via a Court Petition

The purpose of this page is to build an archive of information about cases where adoptees who have successfully terminated their adoptions via petitions to the court. In some jurisdictions (such as Australia) there is existing legislation permitting adopted persons to terminate their adoptions, but it often restricts terminations to certain conditions such as proof of fraud.  In other jurisdictions, no legislation exists and the decision is left up to a judge.  Note:  it is important to obtain professional legal advice before pursuing any legal action.

Your help is appreciated in building this collection.  Please email info@ adoptingback.com to provide additional references to add to this list.  If you are pursuing this route for terminating your adoption and are willing share an account of your experience with others, we are interested in hearing from you.
